以《What Were You Doing When the UFO Arrived》为例
The Lesson Plan Interpretation
一、Teaching Material Analysis
The lesson I am going to talk about is section A of Unit 3, Go For It, Book2B, the title of this unit is What Were You Doing When the UFO Arrived?
This section is a listening and talking part of this Unit. 1a and 1b focuse on the conversation between a TV reporter and the people in the picture, and students are supposed to do listening tasks. After the listening, students are supposed to talk about the question that what you were doing when the UFO arrived.
Since UFO is something most middle school students are curious about, it would be easy to catch the students attention. With this ic, students will benefit both in listening and speaking, and meanwhile get familiar with the sentence pattern “what were you doing when…”.
Given the analysis of the teaching material, the teaching objectives are as follows:
二、Teaching objectives
Knowledge objectives:
1. Students are able to know some words such as bathroom, barber shop and use the sentence “what were you doing when…”.
2. Students are able to talk about the past events and use the past continuous tense.
Ability Objectives:
1. Students are able to practice their listening and improve the listening skills.
2. Students are able to talk about past events according to the input information in the listening part.
Emotional Objectives
1. Students are encouraged to imagine the future bravely.
2. With the ic they are curious about, students’ interest in learning English is stimulated.
三、Teaching key points and difficult points
Teaching key points:
On account of the above analysis, the key points of this lesson are some words and expressions such as bathroom, Barber shop, library, and “what were you doing when… Meanwhile, practice students input and output skills.
Teaching difficult points:
As to the difficult points, they are the same as the important ones. Since the new curriculum always put the skill development and language acquisition first
