  LessonType: Speaking and listening

  Time: 45 min

  Teaching Aims:

  1. Knowledge aims:

  Students are able to learn the words in the classroom such as window, board, light, door, floor and classroom,etc; and also the expression “Let’s do something” to be more specific, expressions like: let me clean the window, let me open the door.

  2.Ability aims:

  After learning the words and the expressions, the students would be able to master the oral English to open their mouths and describe what’s in the classroom.

  3.Emotional aim

  Students are ableto learn the communication skills so that they can be confident. It would also ensure the students to enhance the ability to notice English words around themselves.

  Teahing Important points:

  Students are able to master the words and the expressions

  Teaching Difficult Points

  Students are able to understand the expression by listeningtothe tape and speak it out independently.

  Teaching Aids:pictures

  Teaching Methods: Situational Approach, Audio-lingua Method, TPR

  Teaching Procedures:

  I. Warming up

  Ask a student to go to the front and let him/her try to tell the class what he/she can see in the classroom, name as many objects as he/she could see. Ask another student to complete the answers.

  II. The presentation of the new material

  1.Learn the new words

  (1)A group discussion is designed for the students to talk about what’s in the classroom in Chinese, then the headman of the group needs to hand in a paper of the list.

  (2)According to the list, the teacher will make papers with English name of the objects and stick them onto the objects, eg. door, picture, board, light, window, desk, chair, etc.

  (3)Present the meaning of the names by pointing the objects.

  (4)Ask the students to read the words after the teacher. Read one by one.

  2. Let’s do!

  To make sure the students would learn the actions in English by acting them. Eg. Open the door, turn on the light, clean the window, etc.

  III. Practice the new words

  (1)Ask and answer: The teacher asks what’s in the classroom,then point the objects, expecting students would answer together. Then boys ask,girls answer, then take turns.

  (2)Write down the sentence “what’s in the classroom”, then stick the papers on the blackboard, give the students 2 minutes to look at the blackboard then take the papers away one by one and let the students to guess which words have been taken away and point what itwas .

  IV. Practice the action.

  A game is designed for the students to work in pairs. Team A will do the action followed by the actions written on the paper, selected by the team members randomly. Team B will guess the action in English.

  V. Summary

  Review the lesson by asking students. For the first part to ask students “what’s in the classroom”, pointing the objects and then let the students to tell what are they; for the second part, act and make the students guess.

  VI. Homework

  Teach your parents to say the sentences of “open the door”, “turn on the light”.etc in English.
