定语从句as与which的用法辨析

作为英语学科较主要的语法项目之一，定语从句是各阶段英语考试中的常考点，也是招教英语考试中的热点和难点，而由引导词as,which连接的定语从句，很多考生并不能进行正确地辨析。那两者到底有何不同呢?

一、只能用which引导的定语从句

1. 在限定词定语从句中先行词为单个名词时，如：

My brother enjoys working with the digger,____ he can drive really well.

A.as B.which C.when D.though

【辨析】答案B。当先行词为单个名词时，连接后面定语从句的关系词用which，不用as。如本题的先行词为digger，而不是前面整句话。

2.“介词+关系代词”，如：

This is the magical pen with_____ he often writes.

A.as B.which C.what D.how

【解析】答案B。介词后面的关系代词一般用which，不用as。

3.当后置的非限定性定语从句为否定句时，如：

She married him,_____ we hadn’t expected.

A.when B.that C.which D.what

【解析】答案C。由于非限制性定语从句是否定句，所以关系代词置只能选which，不能用as。

4.当非限制性定语从句中的谓语动词为实意动词时，如：

He is always late for school, ____makes his teacher angry.

A.which B. as C.why D.who

【解析】答案A。本题非限定性定语从句的谓语动词为make，为实意动词，所以选择which。

二、只能用as引导的定语从句

1.关系代词置于句首时，如：

____is known to all, he is always late for school.

A.which B. as C.what D.It

【解析】答案B。关系代词as与which的区别之一便在于其在句中所处的位置，当关系代词需置于首句时，只能用as，不用which。另外，该题选项D也为干扰选项，It is known to all, he is always late for school,是2个各自独立的句子，造成英语语法中常犯的一个的错误——断句。正确的句子应为：It is known to all that he is always late for school.It为形式主语。

2.在the same...as句型中，关系代词用as,如：

I have bought the same dress ____ she is wearing.

A. as B. that C. which D. than

【解析】答案A。关系代词as作定语从句she is wearing的宾语，the same...as的意思为“正是.../和...一样”。the same...as与the same...that的区别在于前者为“和...一样”，是两件，不过长得像，而后者是指同一件。如：This is the same pen as I lost last week./This is the same pen that I lost last week.

3.在as...as句型中，关系代词用as,如：

No period in history has had as many important changes_____have taken place in the past century.

A.which B.as C.that D.what

【解析】答案B。as...as的意思是“像...那样的”,其中as在本句中当主语。该句的句意为：历史上还没有那个时期发生的重大变化像上个世纪那样多。
